About This Work
Some moments in the ocean ask you to slow down. Off the Big Island of Hawaii, a green sea turtle came gliding over the reef with that effortless, almost weightless grace they carry, completely unbothered by my presence. The water was so clear that sunlight broke through the surface behind it, falling in soft rays through the blue.
Rather than chase the shot, I drifted and let the encounter come to me. Moments like this reward patience over pursuit, and this one gave me exactly what the name says: a full flyby, close and calm, before it carried on across the reef.
What remains is a quiet portrait of one of the ocean's most graceful travelers, suspended in perfect calm.
