About This Work
Ireland's western edge doesn't ease into the ocean, it falls straight into it. I made this as the evening light began to soften across the cliffs, catching the texture of the rock face and the sheer drop to the Atlantic below. There's a grandeur to this coastline that photographs can only hint at, the wind, the scale, the sound of the sea working the base of the cliffs seven hundred feet down. This frame holds the quiet version of it, the moment the light turned gentle on some of the most dramatic coast in the world.
